Greetings and welcome to NCECA’s new blog!  If you have not heard the great news yet, NCECA was recently awarded a significant new grant targeted specifically for our Emerging Artists Program.  These awards were made possible over a three-year period as a result of a Windgate Charitable Foundation grant.  This grant has enabled NCECA to create a more extensive and diverse level of support for these artists beyond their single presentation at the end of the conference.

So what does this mean?  For the first time, NCECA will be providing our artists with an Emerging Artists Exhibition in the NCECA EXPO space, a financial award, promotion of their work through advertising/periodicals, and events organized to introduce these artists to a ceramic collector base.  It has long been NCECA’s mission to share the work of new artists that are pushing the edges of our field.  We are now able to help promote the work of the next generation of ceramic artists, and provide a more comprehensive system to help push their careers forward.

This is an amazing gift for NCECA and will clearly have a positive impact on our Emerging Artists Program.  However, NCECA will need to build additional support with the membership’s help to sustain opportunities like this one that we believe are important to the future of the field.  Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support!
